How to Tuesday--Birthing Banner

Another activity we did at my Blessingway was to have the women write birth affirmations, encouragements, or scripture on a 10 centimeter circle. Yep, 10 cm. As in how far one must dilate to be "fully dilated".

Later we glued the circles to larger circles cut from scrapbook paper and then strung them on raffia (you could use twine, ribbon, add beads, whatever you wanted)

This one was writted by my 80 year old grandmother--so special!

Today we hung it up in the dining area, where the labor (maybe birthing) pool will be!

Baby, we are ready!!!

  2. Lovely birthing banner and such wonderful words of encouragement, plant those words in your heart and call on them when you feel like giving in!

  4. I love your banner. It's a wonderful idea. I had two home births and they are some of my most treasured moments in my life. Even when things got hard, I tried to remind myself to have hope and a good attitude, because although I don't remember the pain much now, I do remember how I felt emotionally. The banner is a great way to focus those positive thoughts. Thanks for sharing.
