My name is Hannah White. I am married to high school sweetheart, Kyle. Together, we are on a journey towards living a simpler, sweeter, Christ centered life. We have a two year old daughter, who we call Bunny. She is a true free spirit. We also have a baby girl, called Squirrel, who was born at home in July and is the happiest baby I have ever met.
Kyle and I live debt free. We plan ahead and save for any large purchases, and we buy used. When we were first married, we lived with my parents (now our next door neighbors) while we saved for and remodeled our home, a used double wide. We feel that it is the perfect home for our little family.
We believe in getting back to basics. We raise our own chickens for eggs. My Poppaw has a huge garden (he and my Mommaw are our other neighbors) and he often shares what he grows with us. And I do have my own small garden this year. I love natural remedies (especially the wild growing kind). We cloth diapered Bunny and are now doing the same with Squirrel. We breastfeed, co sleep, baby wear, and attachment parent.
I love creating things. My Grandma taught me how to sew when I was a young girl. Years later, I have started up again. I own a second hand Singer Simple sewing machine, and get a lot of use out of it. I also enjoy crocheting, making wire jewelry, and baking as well as many other things.
I am a work at home mama. My mama and I run a playschool. We believe that childhood is a sacred time and should be full of wonder and enchantment. We live in the country and spend lots of time outside. Some of our favorite pastimes are climbing hills, picking flowers, splashing in the creek, taking walks, caring for chickens, gardening, picnicking, and much more. We love books, they are among some of our truest friends. We enjoy art projects and creative time. My mama is my best friend and mentor. She has taught me so much and I still have so much more to learn. She also blogs here with me. We are so much alike you might not be able to tell who is writing what. My favorite thing about my job is that I spend my entire day with my girls. It is such a wonder to watch them learn and grow.

ReplyDeleteIt sounds like an idyllic lifestyle you have, well done for making it happen.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the "well done". We consciously have worked toward this goal for many years (even as teens) and continue to try to live our lives in a way that allows this lifestyle.

Christ centred or not, your life sounds idyllic! I'm guessing you're based in America? What a wonderful upbringing for your children and the children that you care for in your playschool. I've popped over from Country Kids on Coombe Mill to see your linked post but had to come and read about you as I was intrigued to the background to the photos.
ReplyDeleteExcellent work mama!
Do you have e-mail subscription on your blog please? I'd love to find out more about your lives, very inspiring.
ReplyDeleteI need to look into how to do that. Are you able to "follow" my blog, in the mean time. And thanks so much for the sweet compliments!
DeleteWhat is baby wear and attatchment parent? I did the co sleep. And slept easier at night knowing they were safe and sound. Now they are almost 20 and 21. Time has flown by.
ReplyDeleteBaby wearing is wearing you baby either in a carrier, sling, or wrap. I baby wear rather than using a stroller, and rather than holding my baby in my arms when I am busy. Attachment parenting just means that I believe that children and parents were meant to be together. "Attached" as much as possible. Baby wearing co-sleeping, and breastfeeding are all ways (and their are many other ways as well) of providing our children (and ourselves) with the kind of connection we need to thrive.
