Crafting Along With needle and thREAD

This Babymoon has been so completely different than my 1st one... no emotional healing to muddle through-- only pure bliss. Minimal physical healing rather than months of my body recovering.  I am feeling very good!  What a wonderful gift I have been given.

Since I am still on partial "maternity leave" from our playschool and since Bunny insists on crossing the little white bridge to go to Nana's as soon as her breakfast is devoured, I have a few hours each morning (usually 9-11:30) all alone with my happy, nursie baby.  It seems this blissful birth, combined with some powerful "happy hormones" from nursing, has led to more creativeness and I have spent some of that energy crafting.. actually repurposing thrifted and/or thrift pile clothes into sweet, useful clothes!

I took ONE thrifted wool sweater and created two toddler skirts and a pair of baby longies!

(I promise the bottoms of the skirts are much straighter than the picture shows)

I took some scraps of wool from other projects and fashioned little mushrooms to sweeten the deal!

I have also been repurposing some clothes for myself...
I took a pair of old jeans, lopped them off, and added some fabric from my stash to make a cute skirt!

As for reading..... well other than reading 20 toddler books a day... some of them over and over and over.... I got nothing.  And at two weeks post partum, I can live with that!

Having fun with these Linky Parties!

  6. Those skits are great! My daughter is sometimes sensitive to my felted woolies. Do you get complaints? Are they lined? I love the mushrooms and how they give them a little pizazz with such a simple element.

  7. I am so amazed you have the energy to do any crafts. I remember just wanting to sleep in any free time I had when my son was born. I love the toddler skirts, they are adorable. So nice that you are getting happy hormones so you can enjoy your new addition.

    1. Baby gives me a stretch of about 5 hours each night, then nurses and goes right back to sleep. I also rest an hour or so each morning as well as take a little rest time each afternoon. Then Bunny usually goes to bed at 7ish so I am getting plenty of rest (Thank you God!)

I KNOW! Isn't it amazing the happy hormones that flow when one nurses--oxytocin and prolactin! Pretty awesome I think!
