Eight Days In

It is hard to believe that it has already been over a week since Squirrely joined our little family. Yet at the same time, it feels like she was here all along. The babymoon is going quite well. I am healing quickly, and feel so much better than I did after having Bunny. Mama has taken two weeks off of work to help me out (she is awesome like that) since The Hubs could only take off one day, and we are having a great time. A little organizing and cleaning. A little laundry and diaper changing. A little playing with Bunny and baby holding and so on and so forth.

I am happy to report that after only one horrible night (so far) where I thought I had ruined her life, only to discover the next day that she is cutting her two year old molars, Bunny is adjusting quite well. She thinks Squirrley is her baby and doesn't understand why she can't just pick her up and carry her around. We are still working on being gentle, but overall they are bonding quite nicely. They played together for the first time today. Bunny tried to give Squirrely on of her toys, but since Squirrley can't hold toys yet, Bunny just held it up for her to see. Tandem nursing is also going well. I have Bunny convinced that the left side is baby milk and she doesn't want it. This way I can be sure that Squirrely is getting enough. Squirrley also drinks from the right side in between when Bunny does.

The Hubs is being amazing. After that horrible night, we had a talk about how we want life to go. And how we are really going to have to pull together and help each other if we want things to work smoothly. He and I decided to use this babymoon time to get back on track. Somewhere between being nine months pregnant and working full time and having a two year old etc. etc., things seem to have gotten away from us a little. We now have a new budget and meal plan that will hopefully work well for our new life with two littles. We have some big plans in the make. For now, we are just soaking up every minute of our little family.

I am slowly compiling Squirrley's birth story. That will hopefully come soon.

  1. Sounds like you are working out your new life quite well. What a change, and even 9 months of preparation can in no way prepare you for it! Many blessings and much grace on your growing family!

  2. Oh those bad nights are the worst! I hope you only have that one because everything else sounds like it's moving along smoothly. Take care of you!
