The more parenting that I have under my belt, the more I learn what works and doesn't work for me.
Cloth diapers work for me. I first started using cloth when Bunny was only a couple of weeks old. It was my Earth Day resolution to use mostly cloth. After trying many different types and brands, I settled on pocket diapers from Heartland Dreams. Mama bought several of them for me and my sister Meagan. These same diapers are now being used for the 4th time in a row, on Squirrely. We have built our stock, adding in new ones every now and then. We ended up with a few of Heartland Dream all in twos, and we realized the ease of not having to stuff diapers. I had intended to start buying more, but alas, Heartland Drams is not currently taking new orders.
After wallowing in despair for some time, I set out to solve the problem myself.
I bought snap pliers and got to work.
I picked out one of my less favorite prints in case I ruined the diaper in my endeavors.
I put a snap on the back of the diaper.
Then added a snap on one of the prefolds that I had been using as an insert.
I stitched the other end to keep it from sticking our the sides of the diaper.
I snapped it into place.
And tucked the other end into the pocket flap to make changing quick and easy.
Ta da! All in two!
I plan on doing this with the rest of my diapers as well.

Hey I recognize that dipe :) Glad you can put 'em to good use!
ReplyDeleteMe too! Thanks!
DeleteYou have the best ideas! Finally got a system that's working for me--using flatfolds, of all things!
ReplyDeleteMy mama used flats when we were babies for about 6 months before then using prefolds.
DeleteGreat job converting that pocket to an AI2!!!
ReplyDeleteWell desperate times call for desperate measures.. when your diaper maker takes a break (I hope it is only a break!)
DeleteWow! Very creative... I found you on Needle and Thread and have enjoyed reading your blog. I also have two very small babes so it's nice to read about someone in a similar boat!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea! I use snaps on my "mama" pads. Every mama should pamper herself in cloth just as she does her baby!
ReplyDeleteRachel-I agree! I started using cloth for myself a couple of years ago and especially appreciated it during the postpartum time!
DeleteGreat how-to! Thanks for the pointers!
ReplyDeleteWell done! We try to be all cloth around here- sometimes the laundry doesn't keep up with the baby- would love to hear your washing notes in the future. Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteHere is the link to my little diaper washing secret... http://likemamalikedaughter.blogspot.com/2010/08/for-love-of-cloth-by-nanakerri.html
DeleteThe only thing that has changed is.. any type of free and clear or "natural" detergent and a 2nd rinse after the hot wash. Now you all know my secret! :)
What a clever idea! My favorie diapers are no longer being made and they have gone through three children now so I fear they won't make it to the next one. :( I hope so though!
ReplyDeleteVery creative, I know it's frustrating to find something that works to only have it not stay available. Thank you for sharing at my Our Favorite Things Link Party.
ReplyDeletestopped by from life of faith- try to use cloth diapers whenever I can!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking this up with Mommy Moments! I am planning on using cloth diapers for my baby girl but I'm going with the 2 in one Gro-via. Have you used those at all?

ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing with my Super Link Party! :-)
