Home

It has been a long time since I have written a real pour my heart out kind of post. They are hard to write and take a lot of attention and time that I don't always have to give. But I couldn't sleep tonight, so here I am typing. I haven't yet gotten to share some news. News that seems so little and yet holds so much weight. News of a small change that changes so much. No, I am not pregnant in case you were wondering. We do hope to have more children someday, but that is a few years down the road, I hope. This news is something so sweet and simple, it can be summed up in three words.

I am home.

I am finally a work at home mama. This means I no longer spend mornings rushing to get out the door. It means I don't have to worry about when Squirrely needs to nap, or if Bunny sleeps late, or any of that kind of stress in my life. I am home.

I have been feeling the call to be home for a while. Over Christmas break life was just so lovely. I just didn't see how it could happen. But once again, my amazing mama came up with a plan that struck a perfect balance and benefited us both. My mornings are now free, and my afternoons are a bit busier. I am home.

I now work from home 12:30 - 5:00 Monday - Thursday. I have to say I am loving it. My days are now filled with all the things I always imagined doing with my children. I am free to do the things with my girls that are impossible to do with a large group. I am home.

This morning Bunny was awake from 3am to 6am. She has been fighting off a flu bug and has been in a bit of a funk. We went back to bed at 6 and all three of us slept until 9:30! We woke up fresh and ready to take on the day. It didn't matter at all that we slept late. It also didn't matter when Squirrely was off her usual nap times due to sleeping late. In fact it all made for quite a nice day. And none of it could have happened when I was still working outside the house. Yes, I did still get to be with my girls and that was great. But there is just an ease that comes with being home. A weight off my shoulders. And this may sound silly, but it makes me happy. So happy I will be. I am home.

Home is a name, a word, it is a strong one; stronger than magician ever spoke, or spirit ever answered to, in the strongest conjuration.  ~Charles Dickens

Peace - that was the other name for home.  ~Kathleen Norris

He is the happiest, be he king or peasant, who finds peace in his home.  ~Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

  3. Congratulations! I work at home too teaching piano and violin lessons. I teach at a local daycare one day a week, but only for a bit in the AM with the girls then they hang out with my family while I go back in the PM to teach private lessons. It's nice being mostly at home, and sometimes it can still be stressful, but it's worth it! The kids are only little once, and it's nice to have them home!
