A month ago we celebrated Earth Day with some fun activities,
but really we study our Earth most every day!
Our continent map and three part continent cards are used everyday!
The children learned, early in the year, that our Earth is a sphere shape
and is made up of water, land, and air. They learned to sort various animals into where they live.
and is made up of water, land, and air. They learned to sort various animals into where they live.
They learned that there are seven big pieces of land called continents!
And they learned the name and location of each continent.
The children made continent bracelets to help them remember!
Using a 1/2 pipe cleaner, the children strung a dark blue bead on for water and a light blue bead on for air, and then seven beads, representing the continents, in the colors (and in the order) of our map and globe!
They like to play Continent Hide and Seek!
I hide the map puzzle pieces around the room.
I then assign each child a continent to find and put on the map!
They also enjoyed making an Earth collage.
We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.
