Each week we take all the children for a walk to Poppaw John's garden. Allowing them to be a part of the care and harvest, letting them watch the seasonal changes that take place, allowing to eat sun warmed veggies and fruits ... all of that is a big part of the Enchanted Childhood we try to foster in their and our lives.
The walk over is always full of good things!
some handholding and I love yous
some silly bridge fun!
some hide and seek!
by the way, the leaves sticking out on each side are the tree's arms!
Once we arrive at the Garden,
the carrot patch is the first place the children run!
onions, garlic, rhubarb, and asparagus grown in this huge bed
the blueberry bushes are full and the berries are starting to ripen!
We managed to find just enough almost ripe ones for a taste
more like a promise of the gift to come
peas: both sugar snap eaten with the pod and regular peas popped out of the pod!
we gathered plenty of broccoli to take home for lunch
and oohed and awed over the cauliflower hidden within it's leaves
Each week I join several linky parties! What a fun way to share and learn!

ReplyDeletewhat a great garden to visit!
I planted broccoli for the first time this year, I am crossing my fingers that some of it turns out! I have several weeks before I will be harvesting anything other than herbs and rhubarb from my garden. This is all looks lovely though! And what a fun thing for your kids to have memories of!
