The Birth Circle

I am so excited to write about The Birth Circle. I have been wanting be a part of something like this for a very long time. I know what an amazing resource this would have been for me when I was pregnant with Bunny, and as a first time mama. But alas, my little town, and even surrounding towns, had nothing like this to offer...

Until now!

Almost two years after WV Friends of Midwives first presented the idea,
it has finally become it a reality!

The Birth Circle of Central West Virginia

Join us the second Saturday of every month

We will discuss various topics each month such as birthing options, breastfeeding, positive parenting, attachment parenting, cloth diapering, baby wearing, as well as other topics close to our hearts.

  1. That is so awesome! I don't know if there is one around here now, but when I was pregnant (a million years ago) there wasn't. I was that crazy woman that went to a mid wife (What?!?!)

    2. I had both of my boys in a birthing center, with a midwife, my mom, husband and sister and a couple of other people. Home births weren't allowed (except in emergencies) and water births weren't allowed...although I spent A LOT of time in the tub...it was wonderful. I didn't have any drugs (gasp) and I decided to breast feed (another gasp). This was back in the early 90's, just coming off the "more" of the 80's. Lots of people thought I was crazy or just odd. Both experiences were perfect. The closest thing we had to a birth circle was the La Leche League. They were awesome.

    3. I grew up not having a clue those things (natural drug-free births, extended breastfeeding.. ) were not the norm. I was rather shocked as I got older and realized we were so not normal lol My mama had all three of us drug-free (though in a hospital) and nursed us all 1.5 years or older. Who knew doing things "naturally" and the way our bodies are meant to work was/is so counter cultural!
