Wild And Crazy Time

A big problem we used to have was how to let the children burn off energy,
as well as get some exercise, on days when the weather doesn't let us get outside.
After a lot of trial and error, we have come up with a little wild and crazy (aka: Exercise) time.
About 15 minutes before lunch time, we put all the toys away and just move.

We run, spin, and jump...

We balance and dance...

Then yoga starts and we all have a mat to stand/sit on.
We tickle our toes...

We reach for the sun, moon, and stars...

Tree pose...

Downward facing dog...

Cat stretches...

Super hero stretch...
(the one year olds are mostly just spectators)

Lotus flower...

Deep breathing...

And much more!
We are always adding in new things to make this time more effective.

What is your favorite yoga pose?

  3. Those little mats are a great idea! Isia's favorites poses are the tree pose and mountain pose. If she's having a hard time sometimes I'll ask her to take a deep breath, and she'll get in her mountain pose to do it! (smile)

  5. What a fun way to let them use up some energy, we play Simon says which involves lots of jumping, running and spinning!

  6. We like to dance and freeze, though it usually turns into fighting stances to music. "Watch this!" type thing. If I do yoga while he's there, he has to be on the mat with me crawling all over me. My favorite pose to do together is child's pose with him lying on my back. It's so relaxing and cuddly.
