Baby Wearing Bliss

I have had my Ergo for a little over a year. I used to wear Bunny when she was fussy and I needed to get work done. Two year old on my back, baby in my belly.  Lately however, she is very much a free spirit and does not like to be confined to a carrier.
I tried my Ergo as a front carrier for Squirrely a couple of months ago, but much preferred my Moby for front carry. It wasn't until just last week that I tried Squirrely on my back. My sister, Katie, was over and she helped me get Squirrely in and made sure everything was comfy and secure.

She loved it! I felt much more free than with her front carried. She didn't get in my way when I was trying to do things. She just observed the world around her and eventually laid her head down and fell asleep.

I have back packed her every day since.

I figured out how to put her on by myself. I just put her on forward with the chest and belt straps loose. Then I spin her around my body, taking my arms out (but leaving the chest strap clipped so she can't fall backward) and slipping them back in once she is on my back. My sister, Meagan, just put her girls on her back from the start rather than spinning them, but I just couldn't get the hang of it, so I came up with my own way of doing it.

And she always falls asleep.

I manage to lay her down in bed without her waking up.

I sit down on the edge of the bed and unbuckle the waist strap.
Then I unbuckle the chest clip and slooowly take my arms out of the straps,
laying her down in the process.

Then I gently lift her and place her where I want her in the bed.

Squirrely had sox on, but Bunny swiped them when I was about to lay her down. Since I was going to cover her up anyway, I didn't worry about putting them back on. I will be sure to when she wakes up though. It is chilly here today and little ones need to be dressed warmly.

Cover her up and she is good to go.

This is how Squirrely has been going down for her morning nap. Every time I feel like she is getting sleepy, I nurse her up and back pack her while I work on some chores. Before I know it, she is out.

  1. How cute! She looks so cozy in the wrap. Seems like you have it down to a science :)

  2. That's so funny how you can just lay her down without waking her! I had a hard time with my last one! She still likes to be carried on my back at 3 in the moby. I've never felt as secure using a moby over other kinds of packs though.

  3. I have a Sutemi (they are out of business now) that I loved for Zia--it's almost exactly like the Ergo. I sometimes carry Cash on my back in it, but he still prefers the Moby. Squirrely's a cutie pie when she's sprawled out asleep like that!

  4. Love it! I never wore either of my girls on my back, but it look so cozy! It does look like it would be more convenient than the Moby (which I did use a bunch).

  5. I love my moby wrap but I can't figure out how to put my baby down so he ends up just sleeping on me.

  6. You make carrying on with your chores and having a baby look so effortless! I love that there are no nasty bars for her head to fall against when she sleeps, always the problem I seemed to have with a back carrier. Thanks for sharing on Country Kids

  7. I'm jealous always wanted an Ergo. I have a connecta and still use it and my youngest is 4 in April. I tried wearing him on the front recently and omg what a difference.

    Great photos.

  8. I love baby wearing. For our first, I never got an Ergo bc I couldn't justify the cost since a Moby wrap worked for her. When I needed one for our preschool age son, I finally splurged and bought one. I love it.

Thank you for sharing at the Sunday Parenting Party. I hope you link up again.
