Looking for the wonder in everyday life!
I'd love for you to join me on this journey.
If you find wonder along the way, please leave a link in the comments,
so others can share in your wonder!
Isn't it wonderfull to pass on an old hobby to the next generation?
Papa has been wanting to go fishing for what seems like years.
We used to go a lot when we were dating and first married, but once Bunny was old enough to make her opinion known, it became quite obvious that she was no fan of fishing.
Luckily for us, she seems to have grown into it!
Squirrely looks like she enjoys it too, but there is seldom anything that she dislikes.
I love this picture!
Squirrely nursed and napped in the midst of it all.
This is the only pic I got of all 4 of us. Note my amazing multi tasking skills. Picture taking/nursing baby/fishing all at once.
Bunny made friends with some ducks.
And LOVED playing with the worms.
Papa caught one small fish, and Bunny helped reel it in.
At first she wanted to take it home and cook it up to eat, but she decided to throw it back.
After releasing it, we walked around the marina to see the big fish (they know they are safe by the docks) and ran into our duck friends again.
I think fishing wore her out.
As a result of her napping on the way home, she was up late.
When she finally started getting sleepy she looked at me sweetly and said,
"Mama, can we go fishin' again tomorrow?"
"Not tomorrow, but we will go again sometime soon."
"Ok... I put that baby fish back in the water. He need his mama. He be sad and lonely without her.
He love her.... Can we go to bed now?"
If a child is to keep alive his inborn sense of wonder without any such gift from the fairies, he needs the companionship of at least one adult who can share it, rediscovering with him the joy, excitement and mystery of the world we live in” ~ Rachel Carson

DeleteAwww...love me a good fishin' trip! Zia used to pretend she was kissing the worms. :)
ReplyDeleteMy grandparents took me fishing at the beach when I was little. I caught a 35 lb fish....me. My grand daddy had to pull the hook out of my finger. He did such a great job that I didn't cry.
ReplyDeleteBrave girl! lol
Deletethat is one of my favourite quotes from 'A sense of wonder' and that is definitely some impressive multitasking
ReplyDeleteGreat multitasking Mama, and what a fun day too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a delightful post. WE have fishing lakes and a river on our farm but our children are very impatient fishers! Just popping over from Hobbies and Handicrafts, I would love you to join me on Country Kids too. A linky about outdoor fun with kids so this is perfect. Live every Saturday to Thursday. Some lovely photos from your family day.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking, just enjoyed your post all over again. Loving the multitasking photo of you all!
Deletewhat lovely family photos of a wonderful day by the river. its lovely when a parents past time is shared with their children x
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed with your multitasking. Those are four challenging things to do at the same time.
ReplyDeleteYou know I don't think my children have ever been fishing (we are not big on eating fish and don't know how to). But this post really makes me feel that we should take them, that they are missing out.
ReplyDeleteAnd good multi-tasking there.
Thanks for linking up to the Spring Carnival
What a lovely day out. So nice to share a hobby and fishing is a great one although I don;t think Goblin would have the patience for it. I am indeed impressed by your multitasking photo fo all four of you.
ReplyDeleteSharing this on the Sunday Parenting Party Pinterest board
